Meet your therapist

Hi, my name is Monica and I am so happy you are here. I have been an occupational therapist (OT) since 2017 and more recently found my niche in pelvic health in 2023.

My formal training includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology, a Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy along with the designation of a Level 1 Pelvic Health Practioner through The Functional Pelvis Practitioner Program.

As an OT, I am trained to help my clients engage in their meaningful activitites of daily life (otherwise known as occupations) to their fullest potential. I was drawn to specialize in pelvic health after having pelvic dysfunction of my own in my 20s and realizing how perfectly the OT profession fits into the world of pelvic health. After all, some of the most meaningful parts of daily life include using the bathroom comfortably, engaging in intimacy without pain, moving with confidence through our routines, and feeling at ease in our bodies through all seasons of life.

I take a trauma-informed and holistic approach to care. Pelvic dysfunction is rarely isolated to the pelvis. Given how complex and dynamic people are, OTs not only receive extensive education on anatomy and physiology but we also are trained to deeply consider our client’s psychological, social, environmental, and emotional factors. Therefore, I feel passionate about stepping into the world of pelvic health and offering unique services which allow my clients to feel as comfortable as possible while allowing me to learn about them in their own environment. Also, it is my hope that by de-emphasizing the need for internal work and offering a menu of other ways to make strides towards your pelvic goals outside of manual interventions, pelvic health will feel more approachable for more people who otherwise may be avoiding it out of fear, uncertainty, or past experiences.

Above all, I strive to create space where my clients feel heard, respected, and supported. My aim is always to be a facilitator for my clients, not a ‘fixer’. This work is personal and it is important. You deserve collaborative care that reflects that and I hope to be the one to deliver that to you.

Take a look at the ‘What’ section next for more information on what my services might entail and who it might help.
